  4. Georges victory in the Bradford byelection is above all a victory for the working class against the class collaborationist leadership dominating its traditional organisations in the UK. It is also a powerful sign of the potentially important role of the oppressed and super exploited sections of our working class – our immigrant and “ethnic” minorities. Most especially the youth in these communities, The votes clearly came from a broad spectrum – but the backbone of the activism that mobilised this result surely came from this layer of angry, frustrated and courageous young people within Bradfords immigrant communities ! We should applaud this success as theirs too and as a hopeful sign of the potential class independance in the battles that lie ahead. Thousands beyond Bradford may be inspired to seek the leadership they need and deserve thanks to this astonishing event which George will surely make sure retains the power to reach into the homes and headspaces of millions wihin labour’s former heartlands! Great Stuff ! “wildsage”

  6. This sprung out at me: “That requires a degree of coordination and unity on the militant left that has thus far been lacking.”

Indeed this is an immediately more pressing issue in the UK than in the U.S. right now. The UK is in the midst of its gravest economic and political crisis in a century. Compacting the LP into the petit-bourgeois liberal party it wants to be is long overdue.

Time for the mass party led by a united front of the radical Left, inside and outside of the electoral circus.

  7. You blokes confuse me: I just read Respect is in part made up by the SWP. I thought most of you think the SWP is practically a cult.

  8. swp very publicly broke with respect in struggle with galloway, and, i believe (although i’m only an outsider) that eventually resulted in some significant changes in the swp. you can find this covered on the web.

  9. The government owned mouthpiece (BBC) and Murdochs empire (Sky et al) are pushing the line that “it woz the muzlims that won it” very disingenuous and disappointing to play the race card.
