  2. Cool! even if the Kasama project is a bit too Mao happy.

  5. This picture is used by socialist bloggers all over. It captures well what appears to be happening around the world at the moment. One thing is for sure, there is no more talk about the “triumphant” capitalism in the media. There is somewhat of a feeling of 68′ wanting to come through and that’s a good thing.

  6. Hey Louis, take a sick day or two and get out to Madison and participate, write about it! I love movies too but sheesh, the class struggle trumps the latest art film! The sign from Egypt, however greatly symbolic of internationalism, ain’t enough!! Go to the frontlines in Madison!! (Just a suggestion).

  7. I have no idea what I could possibly say that isn’t being said by labor activists on the Solidarity website. Unless a visit to Madison is meant to straighten me out politically. No chance on that. I am an incurably degenerate petty-bourgeois element.

  8. Uh, hey, don’t read everything as an attack (although I was hoping you would have something substantial up on your site about Wisconsin). I’m suggesting to everyone to go to Madison. I think anyone who is pro-worker, pro-labor should try to get to Wisconsin and I mean that in terms of just going there to be another body, in solidarity, or holding a sign or making a speech or recruiting to socialism (including the dreaded, democratic-centralist rev. orgs.) or making or buying pizza for people or… yes, since you’re a talented writer, give eyewitness. I’ve been reading the Solidarity website, in particular Dan LaBotz, (who I recently interviewed on a radio show and who I have respect for) but the more the merrier, in terms of going to Madison.

  9. No surprise the commercial press is downplaying the significance of Madison these days with the notion that the majority of non-union workers see the state & municipal employees unions as a priviledged aristocracy. This is union busting of the highest order to be sure. Nothing less than the future of the American labor movement is at stake. The question is will it all go down in history like PATCO or not? With no manufacturing base there’s a good chance it could.
