Norman Finkelstein rejects playing the holocaust card

  1. I thought Finkelstein was actually not going to play the “Holocaust card” instead of stating that he would prefer not to. Not that I disagree with Finkelstein on its use vis-a-vis the state of Israel.

Also, that woman phrased her question in the strangest way, since it made it sound like she also didn’t want Germans in the audience to be hurt by the use of the word “Nazi” or something like that. And that guy who shouted, after Finkelstein mentioned the Warsaw Ghetto, “Jews do not attack Gentiles!” or something like that.

I suppose Finkelstein’s final comment on that audience is warranted, given that sample.

  3. What the Nazis and the imperialist slaugher of the Jewish people in Europe have to do with the brutalization and occupation of the Palestinians(funded by the US)is truly beyond me.Perhaps people studying at these universities(degree factories) need to each be given a copy of Howard Zinn’s magnum opus and asked to work out how history really works.Very easy really-colonial settler state stealing land, torturing and imprisoning at will = Israel. Oppressed people = Palestinians. The violence of the oppressed should never be compared with the violence of the oppressor. They are not equal. And the constant harking back to World War 2 is just nuts. Are there no other precedents? The war against the Native Americans? The situation in South Africa? The invasion, occupation and dispossession of the Aborigines here in Australia?Of course, these precedents are never referred to as they are not used ad nauseum like the Saving Private Ryan view of history which our ‘betters’ use to blind us to the truth.

  6. I found her pathetic. One goes to college to learn new things supposedly, not stay in some bubble. Grow up and stop blithering.

  7. I agree with purple. She reminded me exactly of that idiotic blubbering teenager on American Idol that would get all bunched up & teary-eyed over Sanjiya. Utterly pathetic.

  8. Bravo to Finkelstein. His courage is needed and appreciated. The brutalization of the Palestinian people must be shouted loud and true. The money to Israel must be stopped dead. Palestine must be freed up, their lands given back and that stinking wall torn down. Thank you.
